New publisher for Comstock Chronicle

The Comstock Chronicle and Dayton Valley Dispatch have a new publisher, Denise Crites, the papers announced.

Crites owns a photography business in Dayton and is former director of the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce.

She takes over for Elaine Barkdull-Spencer, who is co-owner of the papers and has been serving as publisher since her family bought the Chronicle three years ago from Richard and Angela Mann. Barkdull-Spencer also has a new job as general manager of the Commission for the Reconstruciton of the V&T Railway. As such, the story notes, she’ll be stepping away from daily management of the papers.

The Chronicle combined with the Virginia City News a year ago and added the Dispatch as a Dayton-focused edition. Crites has been writing for the Dispatch in recent months.

Hi there I would like to request a copy of the comstock chronicle that featured the photos of the wine walk in Dayton on May 3rd 2025. Our garage band, Later days was the live music on stage in the community center that day. I would love to receive a copy Or 2 if possible.

    Thank you.,
