Nevada Press Foundation

The Nevada Press Foundation was established in 2000 with major contributions from the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation and member newspapers of the Nevada Press Association.

When it was founded, the primary purpose was the purchase and rehabilitation of the historic Rinckel Mansion at 102 N. Curry St. in Carson City for use as offices of the Nevada Press Association, site of the Nevada Newspaper Hall of Fame and working space for the capital press corps, including the Associated Press and Las Vegas Review-Journal.

In August 2021, the Foundation and Press Association restructured. The Foundation purchased most of the programs and services owned and operated by the Press Association, including the awards contest, the annual convention and the Nevada Newspaper Hall of Fame. The Press Association now focuses strictly on lobbying and public policy.

The Foundation’s primary mission is now the promotion and support of journalism in Nevada. Its annual Awards of Excellence, which draws ~1,400 entries each year from newspapers, magazines and websites around the state, remains the premier awards program for journalism in Nevada.

The Foundation is a 501(c)3 charitable organization. It is led by its Board of Trustees. Here’s the current composition of the Board:
