Newspaper Day at the Capital, March 23

Mark your calendars for Newspaper Day at the Capital, which is set for March 23 during the 2017 session of the Nevada Legislature.

All Nevada Press Association members and their employees are invited. It’s a once-every-other-year chance to represent our industry before elected representatives, learn about the process of proposing and adopting legislation, and voice your opinions about pending bills to your legislators.

The updated schedule:

March 23, Carson City. Come to the Press Center, 102 N. Curry St.

11 a.m. — Senate and Assembly floor sessions. If you want to sit on the floor as a guest of your senator, we must make a request at least a week in advance. Please let us know.

Noon — Lunch on your own

1:15 p.m. — Tour the Legislative Building, meet with legislators, attend a committee hearing. Tour starts outside the Legislative Building.

2:15 p.m. — Tour the Capitol. Tour starts outside the Capitol.

3 p.m. — Meet with Gov. Brian Sandoval

3:30 p.m. — Nevada Press Association board meeting at the Press Center, 102 N. Curry St.

5:30 p.m. — Reception with legislators at the Press Center, also known as the Rinckel Mansion, 102 N. Curry St. Hors d’oeuvres, beer and wine
