Special session, here we come

If you’re coming to Carson City to cover the special session, bring boots, coat and your badge from the 2015 regular session.

Anyone who was accredited as a reporter or photographer for the 2015 regular session can use the same badge for the special session, which is scheduled to begin Wednesday and last no more than a few days.

The list from the regular session already has been sent to the Assembly and Senate for their approval when they convene.

If you’ve not been accredited before, then you will need to register. Best way is to head to the Legislative Counsel Bureau’s site to fill out a form, then go to the Legislative Police office when you arrive in Carson City for a photo ID.

There is limited space designated for reporters in Assembly and Senate chambers, as well as the small press room on the first floor of the Legislative Building. However, seats in the audience in either chamber or in legislative committee rooms give you as much access as the reporter tables. And there is fast, free wifi throughout the building.

Also, feel free to stop by the Nevada Press Association building, 102 N. Curry St., while you’re in town.

And for those coming from Southern Nevada, it’s winter here — a welcome sight.
