New member joins NPA board

Newest Nevada Press Association board member Jen Anderson was born in Nevada because the nearest hospital to her family was in Henderson.

It’s safe to say there’s still not a hospital in Mountain Pass, the former company town for MolyCorp just southwest of Primm across the California line. And Anderson’s definitely a Nevadan, having moved with her family to Winnemucca in the 1980s and graduating from Lowry High School.

She’s been a part of the Humboldt Sun and Winnemucca Publishing off and on since 2002, starting as a reporter and taking on the roles of assistant editor and managing editor during various times while raising two daughters.

Anderson also was managing editor of Community Living Magazine and had her own photography studio, called Color Them Wonderful.

“I look forward to working with the board to help Nevada newspapers and other members of NPA flourish,” she said.

NPA President Glenn Cook welcomed her to the board.

“Jen provides three crucial perspectives,” said Cook, executive editor of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “She’s an experienced, accomplished journalist, she’s from a rural area that presently isn’t represented on the board, and she adds a female voice to a board that needs more of them.”
