Carson City-based Swift Communications, already known for its papers in Vail, Aspen and Lake Tahoe, has added Park City to the fold.
Here’s the announcement to employees from CEO Bill Toler:
“I am thrilled to announce Swift Communications has acquired 135-year-old The Park Record, located in the world-class resort community of Park City, Utah, from Digital First Media. The purchase was formalized earlier today.
“The Park Record, published twice weekly, and its associated website and specialty publications are a strong strategic fit and highly complementary to the company’s other visitor-resort publications and markets that now contiguously span from Colorado to California. The Park Record also adds important scale, synergy and efficiency to Swift Communications’ total portfolio, benefiting all of our strategic market sectors — traditional, agriculture, niche and visitor-resort markets.
“We are also very excited to announce that all current employees of The Park Record are now members of Swift Communications. The Park Record, led by longtime Publisher Andy Bernhard, has consistently grown readers, revenue and profit over the past several years. Nan Chalat Noaker is the editor; Valerie Spung leads the sales team; and Lacy Brundy is responsible for circulation and distribution. The Park Record is printed in Salt Lake City by Utah Media Group. This is a highly successful and experienced team; and we look forward to learning from them while also providing Park City with the support and resources afforded all other Swift Communications business units.
“Our current priorities are to help The Park Record achieve a smooth transition of ownership and to make sure they are properly resourced for the upcoming ski season. As with all our publications and digital businesses, we expect The Park Record to operate consistent with their content strategy and to continuously work toward accomplishing their annual business plans.”
