Earlier this month, Nevada Press Association President Nancy Streets appointed Greenspun Media’s Dave Mondt to a vacant position on the NPA Board of Directors. Mondt replaces Ric Anderson, a veteran board member and former NPA President who recently left Nevada to take a position with a digital news operation in Jacksonville, Fla.
Mondt is managing editor/news for Greenspun properties Las Vegas Sun and Las Vegas Weekly. He previously served as managing editor of The Sunday magazine and as a page designer, copy editor and assistant sports editor for the Sun.
Mondt moved to Las Vegas in 2004 after stints as assistant sports editor for the Charlotte Sun-Herald in Port Charlotte, Fla., sports reporter for the Ocala (Fla.) Star-Banner, sports editor for the Manitowoc (Wis.) Herald Times Reporter, and sports reporter for the Valdosta (Ga.) Daily Times.
In his free time, Mondt serves as commissioner of the Las Vegas Gay Softball League, which he joined in 2009. He represented the league at the 2014 Gay Softball World Series as part of the championship-winning Las Vegas Grease Monkeys.
