NPA convention canceled for 2020

The Nevada Press Association Board of Directors has decided to cancel this year’s annual convention, which was scheduled to be held in Pahrump on Sept. 26.

“We can’t predict the future,” said NPA President Noah Cusick, president of niche publications for the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “But we know it’s unlikely that large, indoor public gatherings like our convention will be safe or even legal in three months.”

The board is still considering whether to announce the winners of the 2020 Awards of Excellence as a virtual online event. Also to be decided is whether the 2021 convention will be held in Pahrump. The group will meet via teleconference later this month to make these determinations.
